There are many different ways to use our Directory listings to find dealers, consultants, and other QuickBooks-related help and information.

One to simply browse the Directory categories.
Another is to do a simple word search.
Yet another is to do a detail search based on the prescribed structure of the Directory listings.

Browsing

This is the simplest. Just click on the Directory category(ies) you want to see, and look at the individual listings.

Simple word search

Just click on a Search menu item (like the one at the top of this page) and enter the word or words you want to search for.

You might search for training to find resources related to QuickBooks training.
You might use the search phrase on-site onsite to find consultants who provide on-site QuickBooks help. (Searching for both on-site and onsite will find listings with either spelling.)

Detail search

Our Directory listings are structured differently than the messages you'll find in other forums. When listings follow our prescribed format (which we make an effort to enforce) they have a structure that helps you search for specific details within them.

Maybe an example is the best way to explain this. A typical listing will include detail information structured like this:

Quote:
Contact=Harrison, Robert
Business Name=Flagship Technologies, Inc.
Address=14976 Monroe Road 1039
City=Madison
State=MO
Zip=65263
Country=USA
Suppose you want to find all listings for the city of Madison. You could do that with the search phrase City=Madison. Of course, besides the listing shown above you'd also find listings from Madison, WI and all the other Madisons in other states.

This listing structure also lets you do an area zip code search. Just search for a partial zip code. For example, the search phrase Zip=652 would find all listings with zip codes beginning with 652.

Because there are many ways to post a listing--lots of spelling variations--understand that you may need to be creative about the search phrases you use. For example, a listing could have either of these Country lines:

Quote:
Country=United States
or
Country=USA
So to find all the listings in the United States of America you might need to use the search phrase Country=United Country=USA.

Finally, realize that you must search for exact matches with text found in the listings. The address in the listing example above is 14976 Monroe Road 1039, but you could not find that listing with the search phrase Address=Monroe, because that text string doesn't exist in the listing. However, searching for Address=14976 would find the listing, because it's an exact match with text in the listing.

To see what categories are available for searching, just browse a listing or two, or have a look at the other "sticky" topic at the top of the forum, which describes the listing form.
