Open the QuickBooks program, then hold down the Ctrl key as you press the "1" key on the keyboard (not on the number pad).

QuickBooks will display a detailed window of version information. In the upper left corner of this window you will see the word "Product" followed by some text, for example:

Product QuickBooks Pro 2006 Release R7P

This example obviously shows that QuickBooks 2006 Pro is running. But the "R7P" part is important too. It describes which QuickBooks release you're running, of (usually) several releases Intuit has made for that particular edition of QuickBooks.

A later/higher release number means a release version with bug fixes and updates. Updating your copy of QuickBooks to the highest release number available will usually help you avoid problems and achieve the most compatibility with 3rd-party programs such as ManagePLUS.

You can check on available updates from within QuickBooks, using a menu command like File...Update QuickBooks (the location of this command may vary in different QuickBooks versions).
