Default How to take a screen shot

Pictures are usually better than words!

Often the best way to help describe a problem you are having is by sending a screen shot (or screenshot) of either your QuickBooks form, or a window in one of our programs, or both.

Many little utility programs can be purchased which do a great job of taking a screen shot and letting you annotate (write on) it, etc. Here are some of the many small free quick-to-download programs available for taking screen shots. (We have not tested and cannot endorse any of these products, but they should work fine):

But you don't need to have one of these--you can do it with just what's available to you already in Windows. Here's how, using a QuickBooks invoice as an example:
  1. Be sure all of your QuickBooks invoice is showing, or at least the part you need to capture.
  2. Press the Alt+PrintScreen key combination on your keyboard. This copies an image of your entire screen to the Windows clipboard.
  3. Go to your email program and paste (Edit > Paste) the image that's on the clipboard into an email you are sending to us.
That's it! If you're sending several screen shots, an alternative is to paste all of the images into a program such as Microsoft Word and attach that Word file to an email you're sending to us.

You can do the same for anything on your screen that you want to capture, including any window in one of our programs.
