The Basics

Visual Cues

The following type styles and images are used throughout this help system to convey special meaning:

File > Open Indicates a series of menu selections. (The ">" character separates the individual menu items to be selected.) This example means to select File from the main menu, then select Open from its submenu.
Ctrl-RIndicates a key or keys to be pressed. This example means to press the "R" key while holding down the Ctrl (Control) key.
DownloadsLinks preceded by a "world" graphic as shown here are links to a Web page on the Internet. Clicking on the link will open the page in your Web browser.
c:\Program FilesThis type style describes a file or folder "path", such as the location of a file on your hard drive.
Show hintsThis type style is used when describing text in a window or dialog, either in ManagePLUS, or QuickBooks, or another program such as a Web browser.

Using the Help viewer

If you are reading this in the Microsoft Windows help viewer, be sure to explore its features. Particularly notice the tabbed-window area to the left and how the tabs can be used:

IndexHelps you find topics by looking for key words in an alphabetic index.
SearchLets you search through the entire help system for words or phrases.

How Help is Arranged

The Introduction, ManagePLUS Window Basics and Quick Start Tutorials sections describe the basics of using ManagePLUS, and are a good place for new users to start.

Later sections provide more advanced information.

How To Procedures shows how to accomplish specific things in ManagePLUS and/or QuickBooks.
"Here's the Deal..." is a section which provides direct, to-the-point information about ManagePLUS concepts and procedures.
Reference contains program menu and window details, and other reference topics.

Do You Print Out Help Topics?...Here's a Better Choice

You may print help topics from the Microsoft Help viewer, but since help topics are not necessarily well formatted for printing the result may not be what you want. A better choice is to print topics from the ManagePLUS User's Guide, a PDF file version of this help system which is designed for printing. For details, see the Getting a printed User's Guide section of the Learning ManagePLUS topic.
